Tulane Commences Distribution of HEERF III Funds Directly to Students

Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) is Congress-allotted funding, and has been created in three allocations. The latest HEERF funding allocated is the American Rescue Plan (ARP): Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III). Please read below for more details about HEERF, ARP, and Tulane University's methodologies for distribution of certain HEERF funding to students.

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) is authorized by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), Public Law 117-2, signed into law on March 11, 2021, providing funding in support to institutions of higher education to serve students and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please note that ARP funds are in addition to funds authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260 and the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Public Law 116-136.

Congress passed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) which created a third phase of Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) resources to colleges and universities across the nation to help cover expenses related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and/or components of the cost of attendance. Over the course of the spring of 2021, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) provided guidance and funding levels, and Tulane has finalized the methodologies to distribute the funds to used only for direct assistance for students. The methodologies require no student application for disbursement, and target certain assumed pandemic-related expenses.
