Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The Tulane code is 002029 for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Both students and parents need Federal Student Aid identification (FSA ID) to electronically sign the FAFSA application. Students, parents, and borrowers are required to use an FSA ID, made up of a username and password, to access certain U.S. Department of Education websites.

The Tulane code is 002029 for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A FAFSA generally should become available online for each aid year and remains available for more than 12 months thereafter. For example, the 2023-24 FAFSA was available online 10/01/23-06/30/24. HOWEVER, FAFSA Simplification challenges have changed the timeline for 2024-25 and 2025-26, reducing the number of months of availability. We expect the 2025-26 FAFSA to become available in December 2024.

SPECIAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE FAFSA

A worksheet from Federal Student Aid (versions may be found here) gives you a preview of the questions asked, and will help you gather the information you need before starting the online application.

Please note that Tulane's suggested deadline for FAFSA completion varies by student population, but in most cases is months before the academic year commences. Those whose FAFSA's are completed after Tulane's applicable suggested deadline may be considered for the type of aid requiring FAFSA completion if the student is otherwise eligible and funds remain available. In any event, the FAFSA must be received prior to Tulane's aid processing deadline (which is four weeks before the end of the academic period for which aid is intended, or the student's last date of attendance, whichever comes first).
